Mrs. Rita Rodriguez Mrs. Rodriguez was born in New York and raised in Miami and has been in the education field for over 20 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education and early childhood from Nova Southeastern University and continued on, obtaining her Master Degree in Reading. While in school, she was a teaching assistant at Joe Hall Elementary and then went on to become the Kindergarten and English as a second language teacher at Coral Gables Elementary. Upon obtaining her Masters Degree in Reading, she moved on to Marjory Stoneman Douglas Elementary, where she worked for the next 8 years and had the opportunity to teach different grade levels. She was selected as Grade Level Chairperson, served for 2 years on the Education Excellence School Advisory Council, the Storytelling Committee, the Dedication Committee, Drama Club Sponsor, and her classroom served as model for the Comprehensive Reading Program. In 2000, Mrs. Rodriguez came on board with Mother of Christ Catholic School. As a long time parishioner and committed Emmaus sister, she was a value asset to the Mother of Christ family. She established and opened Mother of Christ Catholic School, restructured the Mother of Christ Learning Center, instituted the educational and professional school guidelines, hired all school and learning center personnel and was the construction liaison between the parish pastor, Archdiocese of Miami and the school construction company. Mrs. Rodriguez has grown the school from 20 children to the current enrollment of over 200 and an additional 80 children enrolled in the Learning Center. On a personal note, Rita not only enjoys her contributions to our community but most importantly she is the proud mother of 3 vivacious, fun loving boys.
